The Stanley Parable Wiki

Half-Life 2 (stylized as HλLF-LIFE²), is a first person shooter videogame made by and published by Valve Software in 2004, a sequel to the original 1998 game Half-Life. Half-Life 2 also had some other sequels which were: Half-Life 2: Episode One and Half-Life 2: Episode Two.

The Stanley Parable was originally a mod for that game. The original mod was released in 2011 on MODDB.

Connections with The Stanley Parable[]

  • The original mod partly takes place in City 17.
  • The Office building in the mod version of The Stanley Parable is supposedly based in an unknown location in City 17.
  • The vending machine in the Employee Lounge from the original mod reads "DR>BREENS PRIVATE RESERVE", which is used for many vending machines in Half-Life 2 itself.
  • Like most games using the Source engine, The Stanley Parable uses a large amount of assets from Half-Life 2, such as props, textures, and sound effects. Several were also modified, such as a recolored version of a commonly used wooden table seen In Stanley's apartment. Many of these assets were even ported over to The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe to maintain consistency with the original.

Endings[]

  • Freedom Ending
  • Explosion Ending
  • Mariella Ending
    • However, instead of walking in repeating rooms, you walk in a circle. The ending is also much shorter, because as soon as Stanley recognizes the Narrator is in his head, all of the doors slam shut, trapping him.
  • Museum Ending
    • However, there is no museum, just a long hallway showcasing in-game objects.
    • Also, the Female Narrator is voiced by Kim Hoffmeister instead.
    • This ending is accessed not by detouring before the Mind Control Facility (as there is no branching path after the keypad), but by going through the right door and up the elevator. (Destinationally equivalent to riding the warehouse lift up to the Apartment Ending.)
  • Apartment Ending
    • However, it is actually accessed by entering the red door.
    • Also, there is no wife or apartment. You are taken directly back into Stanley's office.
  • Games Ending
    • However, there is no baby game nor experience rating board.
    • Also, instead of being taken to Minecraft or Portal, you're taken to the start of Half-Life 2 itself.
      • Similar to the HD remix, the Narrator gets tired early in the game.

HD Remix endings inspired from glitches in the mod[]
